This is 1 of 9 Swords that I have from a Maharaja's armoury in Rajasthan India, they are based on the Napoleonic Sabre-Briquet, in 1767 the soldiers epee was changed to a Sabre-Briquet and that pattern stayed until 1800, the new Sabre-Briquet, the year XI model (1803), the 11th year after the French Revolution, was the lighter shorter brass hilt curved blade version. This is very similar but heavier and 10 inches longer and formed part of the Maharaja's arsenal, possibly for the palace guards.
