EARLY 20TH CENTURY SCOTTISH HIGHLAND SGIAN DUBH #10065
An early 20th century silver hallmarked Scottish Highland Clan sgian dubh, 9cm single edged scalloped back blade with a single fuller either side and engraved with the owners name D A GRAHAM, plain carved wooden hilt set with a silver plaque with a family coat of arms, an engraved silver band top and bottom engraved with serpents, the pommel set with a yellow citrine set in numerous silver claws, contained in the original wooden silver mounted leather covered sheath, both mounts hallmarked Edinburgh 1912 and the makers mark FG. The original grant of arms certificate is available with the dagger. Dagger overall 19cm #10065myo
The arms are those of Victor James Evans granted in 1981 and the Sgian Dubh was possibly his father's who was born in 1912, the same year as the hallmark, the gauntlet holding the fleur de lys is part of the heraldic arms of an Irish family named Graham.
