19TH CENTURY GEORGIAN CLAN SCOTTISH HIGHLAND DIRK #10212

An early 19th century, circa 1811, Georgian Scottish Highland dirk for Clan Fraser of Lovat, white metal & silver mounted dress dirk, the 12 inch single edged blade, tapering to a rounded point with a large fuller either side and a scalloped back edge, the blade stamped with the makers name, "BOOG under a crown" the carved bogwood hilt of typical interlaced design, the hilt set with over 60 silver pins, white metal top mount, the bottom mount of sterling silver and engraved with the motto "I AM READY. JE SUIS PREST". Contained in the original wooden leather covered scabbard, plain white metal mounts, the top mount with a suspension bar, silver mounted bi-knife & fork, both set with numerous silver pins, the single edged knife blade with a scalloped back edge & stamped with the cutlers name "CROMAR". Pitting to the blade  Overall 18¼ inches. #10212roo

The motto is from clan Fraser of Lovat from the time of the 16th Lord Saltoun, Alexander Fraser.

Andrew Boog was admitted burgess in right of his father Robert who was also a cutler, Andrew is listed at being at 13 High Street Edinburgh 1811-12.

Arthur Cromar was admitted to the freedom in 1799, on the 10th October 1811 he was elected Deacon of Incorporation of Hammermen, he is listed as a cutler in Aberdeen.
